But the dark beneath the sea of cars
It wears the two black shoes
Cardboard box and blanket
Stolen shopping cart
Hide beneath the overpass
Kicked out of the park
Hide beneath the traffic's roar
Eyes like two black shoes
Amazing sale, flashing lights
The new team it can't lose
But as the blue sky rises
Shadows grow beneath our shoes
Swallow all your sleeping pills
Shop away the gloom
Scrub the kitchen counters
Lock the door to every room
But on your feet
Still down beneath
You wear the two black shoes
