The night we saw
All those raccoons
Crossing the yard
Just starting to bloom
Right past the porch
Where we sat in our chairs
Two ran cross the roof
One over the fence
The night of the strawberry moon

So tired and quiet

Then the soft ruby night
The moments unfurling
Slow shady ferns
Cicadas are singing
Risen up from the earth
