Friendly Ghosts
RICHARD STEWART ADDINSELL, ROLAND LEIGH
Why do people talk of ghosts
As horrid shadows of the night
Leaving in their - wake
A dreary trail of hate and spite
They can be friendly, but that all depends
On what you do
If you smile then in a while
They will too
Horrid friend I love to loathe
Is known to me as friendly ghost
Friendly ghosts are here to share
the midnight highland
Of a world that's deep in sleep
Ghosts have lived
And ghosts have longed
So why have I to hear
My heart throbs with -
When they make their ghostly -
None could harm and none are -
When friendly ghosts are near
