Monica sat outside a pub called The Engineer
Looking at the factory where my dad worked
Just along the road from where I was born
I wonder what we knew back then
Monica climbed aboard a boat to France
The night ferry to Dieppe
Some guy to her up to the captain's deck
In the vain hope of being laid
The room was all lit by computer screens
Like a silent otherworldly discotheque
Rolling on the sea in the middle of the night
Newhaven to Dieppe
