Nothin’ But the Blues

Walter Trout

I was walking in the city
The Night was dark and cold
People all around me
But the City it ain't have no soul

And then I heard a woman
She was begging her man to stay
She started waving and moanin'
And he turned around and walked away

I heard her saying
"Oh, oh no, it looks like I've been born to lose"
She said "no, don't go, if you leave me I got nothing
I ain't got nothing but the blues"
Nothing but the blues
Nothing but the blues

And then I saw her
She fell to her knees
Her man just kept on walking
And she was begging "Pleasе"
She said , "Baby, sweet baby
I'm sorry for the things I've donе
Everybody makes mistakes
You know I'm not the only one"

And she kept saying
"Oh, oh no, it looks like I've been born to lose"
She said "No, don't go, if you leave me I got nothing
I ain't got nothing but the blues"
Nothing but the blues
Nothing but the blues

And then she stood right up
And she fell back as he walked
I saw her look up to the open sky
And then I heard her call
She said, "Lord, please help me Lord, help me Lord"

Nobody paid no mind to her
Everybody walked on by
And as I got on close to her
I saw the teardrops in her eyes
I knew I couldn't help her
So I turned around and walked away
When she was far behind me
I can still hear her say

I heard her saying
"Oh, oh no, it looks like I've been born to lose"
She said "No, don't go, if you leave me I got nothing
I ain't got nothing but the blues"
Nothing but the blues
Nothing but the blues

Oh no no
