Raleigh Hills
The river's dry, the sun is shining
The power light on main street is whining
The roads are hotter than the bottom of a frying pan
The neighbor's boy is out in the field
Fighting off the bees with a shield
That he made out of the top of a garbage can
Watermelon, sticky hands
Little League and lemonade stands
It's summer in Raleigh Hills
The old folks are cool inside
While the young kids, they all run and hide
One of them counts to a hundred up against the tree
At night all the teenagers go
They hang down there at the drive-in show
And drink all the beer they can buy on fake IDs
The nights are long and the afternoons
Are ice cream and water balloons
It's summer in Raleigh Hills
The living sure gets easy this time of year
Lazy sounds of summer are all you hear
I know the world is spinning around
But it sure feels like it slows down
In the summer in Raleigh Hills
Old Mr. Fisher is out in his yard
He takes a break from working so hard
And turns the water hose on his own head
Old Mrs. Fisher she laughs and she smiles
She says "You still act like a child"
And she goes back to working on her flower bed
The nights are long and the afternoons
Are ice cream and water balloons
It's summer in Raleigh Hills
I know the world is spinning around
But it sure feels like it slows down
In the summer in Raleigh Hills
