King of boy blues
Your deus ex machina
And many years
And many tears
In common law
Before the flaw
And well behaved
In uniform
And not a cadge
Not what you are
Never beggar
Nor lender be
No kin to me
But now you are
I saw his knighthood photograph
In sunlight over drinks
Fading into yellow streaks
Of royalty down the sink
And now it's yours
And now it's mine
We wait for better times
In increments defined
So what if summer turns to winter
We're still having good times
