The Retribution
The first rays of false dawn peek over the hills
I see my bloodied hands, and I am overwhelmed with guilt
Never have I killed a man, let alone a girl
I pray that dawn won’t come and reveal what I have spilt
In the night, in the dark, no one knows your deeds
But in the day, they are revealed when sunlight shines on
When they find her like this, shivering as she bleeds
Then I shall be forced to face the retribution
Out damn spot! I cannot be punished for this
Out damn spot! I was bound by a contract
Out damn spot! Is my soul forever tainted
Out damn spot! Can I ever take it back
I just wanted control! I wanted to be God
I wanted them to bow and worship me
I wanted to hand out their rewards and decide their punishments
I wanted them to live in fear of angering me
In the night, in the dark, no one knows your deeds
But in the day, they are revealed when sunlight shines on
When they find her like this, shivering as she bleeds
Then I shall be forced to face the retribution
Out damn spot! I cannot be punished for this
Out damn spot! I was bound by a contract
Out damn spot! Is my soul forever tainted
Out damn spot! Can I ever take it back
Now it’s gone too far. My power exceeded me
I killed the one that I have loved forever
I turn to leave this awful place, but I am sluggish
I watch the sunrise, and my consciousness is severed
Why do I stand there? Why am I not moving
Get up, stupid oaf, or you will die again if you don’t move right now
Am I being punished for this
Out damn spot! What’s the end of my contract
Out damn spot! Hell’s a gaping maw before me
Out damn spot! Wait, I want to take it back
