The other night I had a dream that I would live for one more week
My coming death was made so mere but the news did not cause fear
Prayers for healing were kind at best but my time had come to its end
I asked to turn off the big machines and let me live until I’m free
All the things that filled up my life were moved away and pushed out of sight
The presence of people was what I sought to sing and sing the psalms of God
The quiet moments with those I loved were all that mattered and quite enough
The fear of death was made to be so small as I hoped to enter all
