My Genre
The first time
I saw him speeding down main street
In a group of five or six tearing a hole out with their engines
I couldn’t see his face, the helmet’s in the way
But this was the best part of my day
The next time
He wore the same vest in the barbeque
His massive form in front of me imposing with a purpose
I couldn’t just go and say anything unplayed
In the rehearsals that I run through every day
Soon I found I developed this strange liking for smoked ribs
Just so I could see that rugged facial hair of his
I didn’t think how much he’d taken up my week
Until he said he’d seen me every day here since
He plays guitar in a thrash band, I can’t say that’s my genre
Distortion in the high end, I can’t say that’s my timbre
I might sound immature, but I’m just as sure
I can’t say I don’t like him
I can’t say I don’t like him
Every time I’m with him is a treat
It's like my mind is free
I can’t say I don’t like him
I can’t say I don’t like him
We’ll just wait and see, we’ll just wait and see
If he likes me
In the past days
He’s introduced me to his friends
And I feel so strangely welcome in amongst his denizens
Am I one of them? There’s no way to test
If I can fit in with these men
In due time
We made a bond that can’t be broke
But part of me still worries about the things he doesn’t know, I say
How will he ever know, how far I wish to go
I’m breaking from head to toe
He plays guitar in a thrash band, I can’t say that’s my genre
Distortion in the high end, I can’t say that’s my timbre
I might sound immature, but I’m just as sure
I can’t say I don’t like him
I can’t say I don’t like him
Every time I’m with him is a treat
It's like my mind is free
I can’t say I don’t like him
I can’t say I don’t like him
We’ll just wait and see, we’ll just wait and see
If he likes me
