Diamond Sky
I ran outside this morning not knowing what to do
Perhaps I needed a brisk walk before I started anew
The city feels so still and dark before the sun comes out
This harrowing experience, unexpected and delirious
But then the sky lights up and everything comes alive
The unending chrome plate curves all shine along like some great light-up hive
The city shines like diamonds up and through the smog in the sky
Where else could I reside
This horrific maze of tyranny and menace but still
There’s a fervent beauty in all of this
Do the ones at top even see?
The art of a brilliant city underneath the
Diamond sky!
When the sky is blue, I’ll look to these great rooftops and I’ll sing
Diamond sky!
When the sky is blue, I’ll look to these great rooftops and I’ll sing
I’d say their first mistake was failing to imprison me
They let me see just how beautiful it all could be
There’s something hidden here that’s waiting to come out and breathe
Will I see this while I’m here?
Will I see the sun come in and bring this home of mine to life
See the unending chrome plate curves all shine along like some great light up hive
Will I be here, will this be saved, when we’re all out of time
Or will the city die
This horrific maze of tyranny and menace but still
There’s a fervent beauty in all of this
Do the ones at top even see?
The art of a brilliant city underneath the
Diamond sky!
When the sky is blue, I’ll look to these great rooftops and I’ll sing
Diamond sky!
When the sky is blue, I’ll look to these great rooftops and I’ll sing
