It's Gonna Rain

CARL DACARIOUS NELSON

I know it’s gonna rain,
Everybody knows it rains sometimes.
It’s gonna rain,
Sometimes it just, it storms outside,
It’s gonna rain,
Yeah, but you, you’ll be smiling when I,
See you again.

Hey don’t sit here with your head hanging,
Giving in to your sorrows,
Know those that the strongest today,
Might forfeit tomorrow.
And these are life lessons,
Combined with money tight lessons,
The fact you got a night of sleep,
Means some of your strife lessened.
In Concrete Jungles when the bricks fell,
They fell tall and made graves for the people,
Called stereotypes to stick y’all in.
You tried to climb out, bricks kept falling,
Rouge lining, get ahead and likely fall again.
Get a glimpse how the Egyptians fell,
Go blame pharaoh for you pain,
Because you’re pushing his bricks,
In the wheel barrel.
Keep building break bread,
Don’t pop off to the foreman,
Know the fear that I’ve instilled,
Just put a price on your head.
So tighten up Jed,
I’m in charge with little remorse,
I’m in my carriage,
Here’s the reins to my buggy and horse.
And don’t you run,
Just know that I can take you by force,
Because in those days,
A death certificate served as a divorce.
I know it’s gonna rain,
Everybody knows it rains sometimes.
It’s gonna rain,
Sometimes it just, it storms outside,
It’s gonna rain,
Yeah, but you, you’ll be smiling when I,
See you again.

Like I’ve always loved music,
Got talent then done lose it.
You survived a life of strife in this life,
So don’t do me.
I’ve lived a trifling life,
My advice is don’t play me,
The Dr. says I am vicious,
My strike is like rabies.
Huffed on that air,
While driving until I passed out,
I almost drowned that day but I didn’t,
Just took some grass out.
I only credit product so long before I cash out,
I think about it, sitting at the bar,
Running those Taps out.
Boy get that switch from the tree,
Why ain’t this trash out.
Flashback beats back,
Melodies from my tweeters,
Are like heaters are to a summer’s fever,
Like Mona Lisa who smiles so bright,
But could be so facetious, like leeches.
It’s seems it’s taken me,
40 years to get away from here,
So while I’m sitting out,
I stop and drink a skin of beer,
Because lord knows, it’s storming weather.
I’m tired of wasting my time,
Will it get better or rain.

I know it’s gonna rain,
Everybody knows it rains sometimes.
It’s gonna rain,
Sometimes it just, it storms outside,
It’s gonna rain,
Yeah, but you, you’ll be smiling when I,
See you again.

So who am I to judge you,
Like I am holy, when god loves you.
That’s taboo in this society, the Rasta man speaks.
His moves are calculated, just like the lion,
He’s been beaten and hung,
But he still resides in Zion.
I see you’re trying,
But your bouts are getting greater,
You’re facing these heavy weights,
When your weight’s less than theirs are.
You bought yourself a new car, hell of a job,
The same day you bought a pistol,
Because you felt you’d get robbed.

I know it’s gonna rain,
Everybody knows it rains sometimes.
It’s gonna rain,
Sometimes it just, it storms outside,
It’s gonna rain,
Yeah, but you, you’ll be smiling when I,
See you again.
