Weathervane
I can see your weathervane
Fell off in the hurricane
It never even told me
Where your wind was blowin anyway
Walk with me through fallow fields
The soil can take years to heal
Give me one more season
I might turn some seeds into a meal
So lay me down,
Where my heart can roam
And i will find a place to call my own
The river is my only friend
The water froze then flowed again
But never thought to worry
It wouldn’t be returning in the end
Now every day’s a different chord
The sour notes each hour scores
Been singing it for ages
But i don’t wanna play it anymore
So lay me down,
Where my heart can roam
And i will find a place to call my own
And i can see your weathervane
Lyin in the gravelway
Slowly decomposin’
I’m hopin’ something grows there in its place...
