Sinking Girl
I am sinking underneath the water's surface
And I am counting on my fingers the seconds until I am gone
My lovely gown's been torn away, and I see it floating above me
How often I've asked the silence the speak, the frogs are no longer with me
The spiders are gone, the webs are gone, the rain is gone
I am sinking, and the tides are no longer with me
Down and down, I cry and groan, an octopus grabs me and holds me
I stare into his unblinking eye and realize that he's come to save me
Gently, he holds me deep in his arms, and silently he brushes my hair
Life is no longer with me
