I woke up this morning crocodile at my door ail that green and yellow slime it was dripping from his jaws I said are you the milkman he said I'm not that at all I'm just your neighbourhood crocodile making a courtesy call I said that's nice now come inside have some toast and tea he smiled a great big crocodile smile said that would be a pleasure for me then he stared, stared so hard directly in my eyes he said you're not so very old yes you're too young to die I said to him that's very kind L know you like human flesh he said yes, with potatoes carrots and peas it's flesh I love the best he said I don't want victims I don't want slaves if you smile for me and be my friend you'll live for a million days so I smiled and smiled and smiled and smiled smiled for a long three hours I smiled and smiled and smiled and smiled smiled for a long six hours I smiled and smiled and smiled and smiled for a long nine hours I smiled and I smiled and I smiled and I smiled for a long twelve hours well I woke with a start woke all in a daze I could feel the crocodile crawling slowly slowly away crawling up my garden path and out my garden gate I lived in the crocodile to be in the dark was my fate I wished I'd been a little bird and never opened the door I could fly around the big blue sky don't live in the dark no more don't want to live in this dark no more don't live in this dark no more live in this dark no more
