Mourner's Parade
Think I'll get me on down to the city
Get some strings and things for my guitar
So I jumped on the bus to avoid all the fuss
of driving alone in my car.
I sat myself down, half expecting to find
a friend to talk to a while
But nobody smiled, nobody dared
look me straight in the eye
Join in the mourner's parade
It's a deaf and dumb cavalcade
All feelings kept well undercover
in difference to one another
Who said the iceage was over
seems to me like it's still here
The world's gone into mourning
buried alive with our fears
Being afraid is a habit, very few of us break
You'll only find out you're a prisoner
when you try to escape
What if we dared to step out of line
to live and say as we feel
Free to express, to love, to caress,
Let people know that we're real
Though it maybe kind of chancey
it's a risk that's worth while to take
You'll only discover the real you
when you've said goodbye to the fake
Don't join the mourner's parade
It's a deaf...
