Last December
Last December
I watch it like a movie,
My life was amusing,
Fading in the distance,
Only if you knew me now,
You’d never know
Who I was one year ago
At all those afterparties,
Waiting in the lobby,
Every starry night- I was never sorry,
With nowhere to go, I didn’t want to be alone
Somehow I remember,
Last December
I gave you everything
Things I never had
I forget the rest
Although now it’s over,
I’m not feeling that much older
Dreaming dreams I never had,
Making other plans
I still really miss you,
Wish I hadn’t kissed you,
Standing in the lobby,
With a dozen roses,
Holding on for more,
What an ending to the show
My mother always told me
Everything has consequences
She was right,
I never played it nice
Now I watch it all alone
What a price I paid for more
Somehow I remember,
Last December
I gave you everything
Things I never had
I forget the rest
Although now it’s over,
I’m not feeling that much older
Dreaming dreams I never had,
Making other plans
I watch it like a movie,
My life was amusing,
Fading in the distance,
Only if you knew me now,
You’d never know
Who I was one year ago
My mother always told me
Everything has consequences
She was right,
I never played it nice
Now I watch it all alone
What a price to pay for more
Somehow I remember,
Last December
I gave you everything
Things I never had
I forget the rest
Although now it’s over,
I’m not feeling that much older
Dreaming dreams I never had,
Making other plans
Somehow now I’m older,
I feel colder
And I wanna hide inside,
Just like last december…
