Times Like These

I never knew that the world you were born into would be this cruel
In times like these it's hard to raise a family
But times like these are far from the usual
And indeed we are living through difficult times

Things are all topsy turvy right now and we seem to be doubling down
We're so chillax asleep neither safe nor sound
Showing our ugly sides thinking no one can see us
But they're listening in 24/7 to us

We're sliding down the slippery slope
With very little for which to hope
Thank goodness for funny jokes
Creativity, our only way to cope

Shelter in place, social distancing and via online
We're stuck in our family units for an indefinite time
Nowhere to go and even less to do
Confining ourselves so we don't pass the flu

I hope we find a way out of these dark times
Back into truth and positivity
May we gain some perspective on who's important
And who is entertainment in times like these
