Dreams

Ylva Eriksson

Once again I landed on my feet
Oh the struggle, know I died with every heartbeat in my sleep
Pushing at those birds that never flew
So who are we, who were you to tell me I didn't do?

Now I have dreams that tell me of my soul
Of shackled wings and shattered bones where feathers fell like snow
A million stars like bloodshot eyes are gazing at my feet
So who are you to blame me when I don't wanna sleep?

Let them fly
Let them soar
Though I'm tired
I should wave them off as they go

Could forever ever come to change?
I've lived too many lives to think that anything will be any other way
And I am small, these deserts are too wide for me to walk
But who are we, who am I to say I can't even try?

I lay weary, gasping on the ground
I realize I built these walls myself just so I could see them tumble down
A silent thank you to the birds up in the sky
As I rest upon the notion that I was the one who let them

Fly

Let them fly
Let them soar
Never tire
Never tire
Never tire
