Patiently

Gerald Lee

In the bar I guess I caught her eye
She walked up and we started to talk
(chit chat)
After a while I took her hand and we started to dance in the moonlight
(dance dance)
Her smile was shy but beautiful oh the feeling was oh so right (and she asked)
“How about one more drink on me, to finish the night”

But I-
I said “Goodnight” and I let her go
I paid my check and I left on my own
I never asked to take her home
I didn't get her number on my phone
I had a good time, but I’m better off waiting patiently
And all alone

I always carried a spark in my eyes
While the fire runs through my heart
My cardinal sign doesn’t fly but it's loyal and true with the thoughts in my mind
And it's the reason why, I don't need to keep myself in line
And after one more drink, I'll be fine

I said “Goodnight” and I let her go
I paid my check and I left on my own
I never asked to take her home
I didn't get her number on my phone
I had a really good time, but I’m better off waiting patiently
And all alone

If I was a little more patient, this would have never happened
The flame became so weak compared to when we started
Long distance loneliness is a wish I never wanted
