A momentary taste of silence
A fleeting sense of peace
Before I realized that my eyelids have been begging me for weeks that I could use the sleep
But that cave is not as deep as I once thought
There's times when I would sleep, resting my eyes if I was caught
And now a nightmare would be desired if it meant just a sliver of rest
Now the voice in my head is agitated, "so drift away," it says
"Please wake up, sleep is irrelevant when you keep me all caged up"

Haven't slept more than a wink in what has to be weeks
It's just cause to be afraid
A fear that would make one think
I'll drive myself right to an early grave
