Devil O’ the Sea

I awoke in agony again

Their frantic screams incessant
Every night I relive a sickening sight
Of a family who woefully lost their lives
From my dearth of bravery
And a monster who roams both the land and sea

Their grisly deaths indelible
No amount I drink blots the shameful sight
Of a family who haplessly lost their lives

And a monster of unmixed malignity

There was blood on their door
There were limbs on the floor
Children's lives surrendered
They're all dead

Equine-like and skinless with black blood in its veins
Its sinewy muscles writhed when movement made
Paused and pondered the cessation of my life
Chose to leave me alive
