Drink to the Devil
Back in port after sixty days at sea, a hot meal and ale is what we need
So we head to the tavern door and as we entered this is what we saw
A drunken mob of scurvy dogs, raucous as they sang their song
With a tankard in their hand, this is what they sang
Damn your eyes and pass the rum!
Drink! Drink! Drink! til the devil comes
Raise the flag and beat the drum
We'll drink to the devil and the midday sun
Every drink loosened their lips and from their mouths a secret then did slip
Of a dead man's treasure chest, buried when he was laid to rest
The map was in their hands, so to steal it we made plans
With them distracted to a man as those sea dogs sang:
Damn your eyes and pass the rum!
Drink! Drink! Drink! til the devil comes
Raise the flag and beat the drum
We'll drink to the devil and the midday sun
With the map we knew just what to do, lie in wait outside, press gang a crew
Those dogs will be easy meat when they stumble out into the street
By the dawn we'll be out at sea, a fair wind is all we need
The Eagle's voyage can now begin, below the mast we'll sing:
Damn your eyes and pass the rum!
Drink! Drink! Drink! til the devil comes
Raise the flag and beat the drum
We'll drink to the devil and the midday sun
