Yokohama Blues

David J

My papers were not in order
And I've only myself to blame
Now I'm stranded in Yokohama
On a street with no name

Sipping sake under the stars
In a small suburban yard
With a sweet camellia tree
For company

Pale as a lily
From the flower and willow world
Part geisha, part go-go dancer
This beautiful girl

Under the summit of Mount Fuji
On the brink of a breaking dawn
By train to Kamakura
Where the Samurai creed was born

And then it was on to Yokohama
And back to her home
She gave me a golden fleece
Then left me alone

I wish I was high in the sky
With a vodka
My Visa stamped with a government seal
And one mile below me
Receding slowly
This girl whose heart I could steal

But I need a letter from a doctor
Before I get my silver wings
So, I'm praying to old Buddha
To pull some strings

Will I be home for Christmas
To lay these presents under the tree?
Gifts from Electric City
For my friends and family

I'm trying to lose
These Yokohama blues
I'm trying to lose
These Yokohama blues
I'm trying to lose
These Yokohama blues
I'm trying to lose

I'm trying to lose
These Yokohama blues
I'm trying to lose
These Yokohama blues
I'm trying to lose
These Yokohama blues
I'm trying to lose

Yokohama blues
Yokohama blues
Yokohama blues
Yokohama blues
