Monologue
[Intro]
Thank you
Thank you very much
You know we have, um, let me see
You know sometimes, groups like mine
Which are, you know, basically pretty good groups
Because our parts are so bad, you know?
We got a bad bass player and a bad drummer and a bad piano player
A fair saxophonist
A moderately good cornetist
But it all helps, you know, when everybody else is bad, you know?
It helps to keep us in, let's say, a safe area, you know?
That's, uh, not overconfidence
It's just a kind of honest expression of arrogance
Based on the realities of what we hear all the time
So lately we, from within, have been talkin' about
It sure would be nice to hear this and hear that
That's one of the reasons we have with us Airto Moreira
Playing percussion, varied and sundry percussion
Also, while we're searching for other sounds
We have prevailed upon two spectacular musicians
Who are going to be joining us during this engagement
And hopefully we'll be able to do other things
First of all, on saxophones and flutes and piccolo and all other kind of stuff
We, uh, would like to welcome to the stand Mr. Ernie Watts
Ernie Watts
There he is
That's right
Next, we'd like to welcome to the stand a guitarist who plays
Comprehensive guitar
Join me in expressing some appreciation to Mr. Mike Deasy
Mike Deasy
Now, we have a tune and we don't even know how it sounds
Because that's the way—
That's right, we have no idea how it sounds
Because we've never heard what the hell he's gonna do
But it's still gonna be alright now
Mike, make a profound statement
