Everyday this year just feels like a test

My memory is foggy and the colors aren't there
The sky was always dark with fear looming everywhere
But I can say that those were the best times
Even though I was blind

The times of a tree, with the added cork
With the men staring at the crash
Or a fever that you just couldn't sweat out
While they sit at a bar with a burlesque dash

Why couldn't I see
The world back then
It was all so much simpler

I don’t remember anything
But I know i must have been
Having the greatest time of my life

But I saw black for most of that time
Before finally opening my eyes
But I was standing in a room

A small apartment that was bland and pure white
I never got to see what it was really like
Those years went away as fast a light
And now I'm here (I'm an Alaskan now)

Why couldn't I see
