Happy Accident

Still to this day
My mum looks at me in that way
Daddy doesn't know what to say
Even my sister too
She's so much older, it's my crux to shoulder
Cause when I came
My new family had tears in their eyes
Not everyone likes a surprise
I hoped that they would find
Something that may change their mind

I'm a happy accident
But I'd have preferred blissful ignorance
I'm just an unplanned bedroom incident
But they call me their happy accident
So why does this make me so sad

As time passed by
I found fewer reasons to cry
Saw accidents far worse than I
I see them all the time
Like stepping on plugs in a room in the dark
Kicking a child by mistake in the park
Dropping an overweight dog on your toe
Calling a woman a man in a show
Trapped in a lift or a fall off a cliff
Maybe losing a leg or just breaking an egg

I'm a happy accident
But I'm glad my parents were negligent
Their guilt means they overcompensate
And I'm getting all the inheritance
So maybe it isn't so bad
