The Play
Brother's had a daughter
Mother's working overtime
Father keeps the house in order now
I've been treading water
I've been trying to clear my mind
Thinking about all i'm living without and leaving behind
But i won't like to myself again
I've found a new way
And i won't run away
Because i've seen a younger generation
The roles are rearranging
But the play remains the same
Back home in the autumn
I heard the children sing
And suddenly i'm seeing clearly as day
Could it be i'm the one they dream to be?
Even with all my fallibilities?
I got a reason to be everything and more
So i won't lie to myself again
I've found a new way
And i won't run away
Because i've seen a younger generation
The roles are rearranging
But the play remains the same
Bloody fists and broken wrists
Monsters roar and serpents hiss
And i cry for you
Feeling lost, so far away
In a stranger's hiding place, alone
I grow strong
Brother's had a daughter
Mother's working overtime
Father keeps the house in order now
I've been trying to clear my mind
Thinking about all i'm living without and leaving behind...
I won't lie to myself again
I've found a new way
And i won't run away
Because i've seen a younger generation
The roles are rearranging
But the play remains the same
