Ghosts of Greed
Shattered windows are staring from eroded walls
Doors hanging aslant on rotten hinges
Some streets still travelled, where a sane mind cringes
By wanderers on iron horses, where darkness calls
Riding, hurrying over broken pavement so as not
To spend this eerie night with ghosts
And there are ghosts
Those that lived here, worked, and died
Yet while they were alive, their hopеs, their virtues crucified
If you'd ask thеm they would tell you
Of a greed beyond all limits
Of a need destroying a simple way of life
Their presence may yet be felt
Spirits floating where once the living dwelled
Between buildings crumbled, torn and shifted
Ravaged by time, you'll see, once the fog has lifted
Collapse was slow, but the wise men knew, predictable
Yet humanity's actions taken despicable
The ashes rose, a last vision
Too late, too late, too blind to see
But when the castles crumble
That were built on sand or cloud
Gods witnessed mankind tumble
Mankind before mammon bowed
The ones who lie unburied
Could have changed the course of time
But preferred to stay unworried
Descend into sin and crime
The ashes rose, a last vision
Too late, too late, too blind to see
But when the castles crumble
That were built on sand or cloud
Gods witnessed mankind tumble
Mankind before mammon bowed
